Ian is an entrepreneur, composer, and pianist — and the founder of Soundfly. He’s played all over Europe, North America, and Asia as one-third of the modern classical, experimental trio Sontag Shogun, performed with incredible musicians like Julia Kent, Matana Roberts, and Greg Fox, composed music for films and videos, including the award-winning short film Rosa: These Storms, and recorded multiple well-received albums.

Ian also writes a weekly newsletter on creativity and the creative process, publishes a podcast on how to make epic music, and is a moderator for Ólafur Arnalds' OPIA community, where he runs workshops, hosts feedback sessions, and supports discussions around creativity.

He loves working with students on piano, on music theory, on composing with the piano, on producing ambient and experimental music, and other topics in that vein.
